"Well to be honest..."

We have mentioned that the water has been off for some time now (nine days). To be honest there is an abundance of water in some areas. We drove past this reservoir on Sunday on the way to a church. Many were there to wash clothes and bathe or fill containers for cooking and drinking. We didn't stop. We are waiting for the water that will come through our pipe.

The water that comes into Seed Ministry is filtered and purified right away. When teams come (and you may remember this if you have traveled before) it makes a big difference if you can drink water from your room or even brush your teeth with water from the sink.

We are doing fine here. We have water that we can bathe and clean with and we have been buying filtered water to drink. We can buy 15 Liters for about a dollar.

So, full disclosure here, there is water available. But after a week with no water we're still going to wait for water from our own pipe.

Water on the Horizon?

Hopefully, this picture is a sign that rain is on the way!

It has been 120 degrees Fahrenheit here for the last few weeks. Everything is covered with a fine dust. The past two weekends the electricity was shut off. On Saturday, the water pumps here in Tamale shut off, so now we lack a consistent flow of water. This has been the water situation for 4 days now, at least for us. Some have not had water for two weeks. In town it is hard to find a place to draw water.

As we drove into Tamale to deliver a little water to some local pastors, we saw many women and children carrying large buckets of dirty water on their heads. This water will be used to bath in or wash their clothes. Some may add ashes to the water, stirring it in, and letting the ash, along with the clay to gather at the bottom. This does help in some way to make the water 'clear' but still doesn't make the water 'pure'.

In John 4, Jesus asks a Samaritan woman for a drink from Jacob's well. She was puzzled that He asked such a question, but then He goes on to say in verses 14-15, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well water springing up to eternal life."

Instead of focusing on the water we don't have, here at Seed Ministry this week, we have been thinking about the Pure, Living Water we have in Christ.

Student Teacher

We hope this video works for everyone. This is of the Seedlings Preschool Academy. This is the student teacher for the day. This is too precious!

The Seed Ministry Tractor, Reporting for Duty

The tractor that was sent in the container is getting ready for another farming season. Last year it was used north of Tamale in Piggu and the surrounding villages. It is a great benefit to the village farmers. Emmanuel took the tractor to get serviced and update the license last week.

Some of you may recall, there was a large tree that fell at the Site here some time ago. We cut it up into pieces and delivered them to some local pastors. Wood is very expensive in Tamale, so the pastors were thankful. In the pictures we were loading up some of the wood to be taken to Pastor Abraham's house.

"Thank you" for your "Thank you."

As a thank you to Seed Ministry for coming to their church to teach, Toby was given a guinea fowl. Toby appreciated it very much. The children were also interested in the presentation. The man giving the guinea is Pastor Baba, who is watching over the church at Limo. He came to the Seed Ministry site and met with Toby and Emmanuel. He was asked many questions about theology and he told his testimony. In the future, we are looking forward to working along side this humble man.

Toby will be going to Limo this Sunday to preach to this new church group.

Sweet Babies

We took a bus load of Christians to a village recently. Emmanuel drove the Seed Ministry staff and some church members from Kalpohine. We went to teach and to have a church service. While we were waiting we met some new friends. Joy is holding the daughter of one of the ladies that went with us. Joy had such a great time holding this precious little one. Emmanuel was ready to leave, but Joy didn't mind the wait.
Now as for Toby, he had a friend come to greet him. Toby met this little boy one day. Now every time Toby visits Kalpohine the boy comes running to see him. The boy was timid at first not knowing what to think of the white skin and freckles. Toby and him became fast friends. Toby said, "I have a great personality that just draws in the children." Joy's remark was, "Yes dear, and that candy you gave didn't hurt."

Caleb at the Bible Club

Caleb helps with the Bible Club at Sognaayili every week. He also goes with us when we visit other clubs and the schools. This week the benches for the club had to be placed on the dirt road. In the picture at the bottom you can see a beautiful mango tree. It usually provides the club with shelter from the afternoon sun. It is now sheltering a large bee colony so we are keeping our distance. (Question: How can you tell if someone is a good leader? Answer: If they can persuade the children to form a line at game time.)
