Hopefully, this picture is a sign that rain is on the way!
It has been 120 degrees Fahrenheit here for the last few weeks. Everything is covered with a fine dust. The past two weekends the electricity was shut off. On Saturday, the water pumps here in Tamale shut off, so now we lack a consistent flow of water. This has been the water situation for 4 days now, at least for us. Some have not had water for two weeks. In town it is hard to find a place to draw water.
As we drove into Tamale to deliver a little water to some local pastors, we saw many women and children carrying large buckets of dirty water on their heads. This water will be used to bath in or wash their clothes. Some may add ashes to the water, stirring it in, and letting the ash, along with the clay to gather at the bottom. This does help in some way to make the water 'clear' but still doesn't make the water 'pure'.
In John 4, Jesus asks a Samaritan woman for a drink from Jacob's well. She was puzzled that He asked such a question, but then He goes on to say in verses 14-15, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well water springing up to eternal life."
Instead of focusing on the water we don't have, here at Seed Ministry this week, we have been thinking about the Pure, Living Water we have in Christ.
That was very refreshing...will pray for rain your way!
